justfornow: ([Stock] {Ocean} Beautifully wild)

It gets to be about this time of year and I always feel somewhat nostalgic, no matter where I'm going or what I'm doing. More than anything, though, I always, always long for Oregon right about now. I long for the coast and the ocean and the simpleness of it all. Last time we went there, our jam was Picturesque by Chase Coy and to this day it is one of my favorite CDs (which is funny, because I totally bought it on a whim). It's really chill and it talks about getting away and being in love. Every time I listen to it, I think of the ocean. And just, God, it's wonderful. You should all go out and listen to it.

Also, I thought I'd share the latest fic worthy of my "ftw" tag on Delicious. Mapmaker, mapmaker, make me a map [AU. PG-13. 18,475 words] by [livejournal.com profile] pidgeoned . Summary: Jesse and Andrew meet online and hit it off. Then they decide to meet in real life. BasicallyAndrew writes poetry. Jesse draws. Together, they are lovely. There are so many feelings and Jesse is kind of ridiculous. But. God. I love this fic.

Oh, also. I finally got my weight down to the 150s. I did a ginormous happy dance after I stepped on the scale. :D

I watched The Social Network again last night and I noticed some things that I didn't notice the first time around.

1. (And, yes, I realize that I'm probably the last person to realize this.) At the beginning when Mark is blogging, he is using livejournal. This amuses me for a couple of reasons: a) just simply because he's using LJ and that just makes me happy and b) people he knows in real life actually read his blog.

2. I really, really dislike Sean. Not even just because he kind of weasels his way between Mark and Eduardo, but just simply because I think he's a bad person. That and the part with the cocaine (Is it cocaine? I can't remember.) at the end really freaks me out.

3. Jesse really, really should have won the academy award.

4. I'm still hopelessly in love with Andrew.

All that being said, after I watched it, I dug into my "to read" Mark/Eduardo folder and ran across a really, really amazing fic that makes me feel all fuzzy inside. It's just... It feel so real to me. It has a hopeful ending, too, and so, so many emotions. It mostly takes place while they're still at Harvard, which for some reason I don't usually like. But this is amazing. And it's a longfic and everyone should read it. Really.

crept out the front door slow by [livejournal.com profile] ymorton . [NC-17] Based on the kinkmeme prompt- Eduardo has this thing, where whenever he's drunk drunk, he basically makes out with whoever's around. -- but then it became a massively angsty love story. oops.

So I'm going to be a bit of a word nerd for a moment.

Last night, I ran across this site called Untranslatable, which is dedicated to foreign words that require sentences, paragraphs, or pages to explain their meaning. It got me thinking about my favorite words like that:

1. waldeinsamkeit: the feeling of being alone in the woods

2. saudade: a vague and constant desire for something that does not and probably cannot exist, for something other than the present, a turning towards the past or towards the future; not an active discontent or poignant sadness but an indolent dreaming wistfulness.

And then after that I got to thinking about my favorite lines from fiction:

1. It's not the first time he's looked at someone and thought forever, but it's the first time that 'forever' meant something greater than just a frozen, crystalline present.
-And Play A Favorite Song by [livejournal.com profile] linzeestyle . This is one of those lines that has stuck with me ever since I first read it over a year ago. Last night, I was going through my delicious and reading a few Kradam stories under my "ftw" tag. I've been craving good Kradam for a long time and I remembered that one, so I decided to read it. It's not my favorite plot ever (I prefer lots of angst and then they get together near the end instead of toward the beginning), but the writing is fantastic. And then I got to that line again and nearly died. It's just so beautiful.

2. He feels like he just jumped off a merry-go-around— he’s standing still, but the world is still spinning like mad all around him.
-This is also from a Kradam story, referring to Kris. I don't remember which fic it was, but I saved it in the notes on my computer.

3.
"I Wanna Hold Your Hand.' First single. Fucking brilliant. Perhaps the most fucking brilliant song ever written. Because they nailed it. That's what everyone wants. Not 24-7 hot wet sex. Not a marriage that lasts a hundred years. Not a Porsche or a blow job or a million-dollar crib. No. They wanna hold your hand. They have such a feeling that they can't hide. Every single successful love song of the past fifty years can be traced back to 'I Wanna Hold Your Hand.'And every single successful love story has those unbearable and unbearably exciting moments of hand-holding. Trust me. I've thought a lot about this."
"'I Wanna Hold Your Hand,'" I repeat.
"And so you are, my friend. So you are."

-From Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist, the book. I'm pretty sure I've flailed about this passage before but it's just so brilliant. I'm pretty sure I've thought about it at least once a week ever since I first read it about 4 years ago.

ETA: I forgot to mention this, which is weird, because it might be my favorite one of all.
4. "Love doesn't break hearts, fear does."
-Adam in Sick Cycle Carousel by [livejournal.com profile] fakeplasticsnow. Just. Jesus.

Also:
5. "The human body is beautiful because it's artwork without an artist. It's spontaneous -- it's beautiful whether we appreciate it or not."
-Another Adam quote. I don't remember which fic this was from. But. Ugh. <3

I absolutely love when you're reading something and you come across a line that sticks with you forever. It's one of the greatest feelings ever.

SInce I have nothing productive to say about life, I'm here with a few fic recs.

***[Kris/Adam] Like The Music That You Play by [livejournal.com profile] lizziebethlj. Kris shows up on Adam's tour, and decides to stay.
This is, without a doubt, one of the best Kris/Adam stories I have ever read. I flailed over it forever. It's has this amazing build up and an awesome ending and just the right amount of angst and love. Seriously, everyone need to read this. It's totally crazy because this is the first fic she's ever written and just... ugh. I refuse to let her crawl back into her hole. Fandom needs writers like her.

[Finn/Kurt] I'm 98.7% Sure That Fooling Around With Another Guy Means You're Gay by [livejournal.com profile] audaciously. A random hook up between Finn and Kurt ends up turning into a friends with benefit relationship. But then Kurt goes and joins the Cheerios, becomes sexy overnight, and Finn has to deal with the fact that he's no longer the only one who wants to have sex with Kurt. The entire school already thinks he's going through a sexuality crisis, so maybe it's not so bad that he's fooling around with another guy.
This author never, ever lets me down. And this is just pure win.

[Kris/Adam] This Evening's Empire by [livejournal.com profile] moirariordan. AU. Prince Kristopher gets a lot of proposals.
This. It's kind of crack, but it's amazing crack. Basically, Prince Kristopher refuses to wed or be courted because he got his heart broken by one Ryan Seacrest. However, Adam Lambert intrigues him. Somehow he ends up going back to Adam's lands for their annual festival and ends up falling in love in the process. It includes a drunken profession of love from atop a statue. Read it. That's all I have to say.

Hey, how do I make a sticky post?

So, [livejournal.com profile] ontd_ai  is amazing. And in the off-topic post today, people kept posting download links to awesome gay movies. So I'm putting them here for myself, so I can find them when I figure out what kind of software I need to watch movies on Kelvin (my cute little Mac), and so that I can share the amazingness that is gay movies.

So. Here goes:

-Brokeback Mountain. (Which, I know everyone has seen. But still.)

-But I'm A Cheerleader.

-Big Gay Musical.

-Make The Yuletide Gay.

-Latter Days.

I still have the download link for Shelter if anyone missed it the first time.

Oh, and the complete soundtrack for Glee.

Sorry for the huge gif. But Kradam. <3

This is entirely [livejournal.com profile] underdelusions  fault. She decided that I have impeccable taste in fic and that she needed it her life. So. Here were go.

Multi-fandom rec list, although, I have to say right up front, there's a lot of Kris/Adam.

Here's the link to my delicious, in case this isn't enough to keep you occupied forever.

* = The best of the best. My favorites of all my favorites. The ones you really, really, really should read.

Also, please let me know if any of the links don't work and I'll be happy to fix them.

AND. I'm not going to flock this, so if you want to share it with people, you can.

A pretty epic list under the cut. Includes recs from American Idol, Glee, Wizards of Waverly Place, As The World Turns, Olympic Slash and Jonas Brothers. )
